Abstract

In June 2022, Bali Province (Denpasar City and Singaraja City Combined) recorded inflation as high as 0.92 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 110.11 in May 2022 to 111.12 in June 2022. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) in June 2022 was 4.20 percent. The year-on-year inflation rate (June 2022 versus June 2021 or YoY) was recorded as high as 5.75 percent.

Inflation occurred due to the increase in the prices of public consumption goods/services as indicated by the increase in the CPI in seven expenditure groups, namely: group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 2.64 percent; group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 2.01 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) as high as 0.73 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.43 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.37 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.08 percent; and group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as high as 0.01 percent. Three other groups recorded deflation, namely group VI (transportation) of 0.32 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as deep as 0.21 percent; and group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as deep as 0.05 percent. One other group was recorded to be stagnant or not experiencing a change in index, namely group IX (education).

Of the 90 CPI cities, 85 cities experienced inflation and five cities recorded deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Gunungsitoli as high as 2.72 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Pontianak as high as 0.07 percent. The deepest deflation was recorded in Kendari as deep as 0.61 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan as deep as 0.03 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, Denpasar City ranks 46th and Singaraja City ranks 2nd out of 85 cities experiencing inflation.
